The
Surround Microphone Comparison DVD
UFO Sound Studios in Berlin have worked intensively on surround miking
tests during the last months. The result is an amazing comparison DVD
between different miking systems and miking techniques. Ufo Sound Studios
employed the surround miking systems of SPL (Atmos 5.1/ASM 5), Neumann
(prototype) and Rode (NT1000).
Special
attention was payed to miking techniques with the following different
approaches:
True Surround – natural localisation of instruments
Virtual Surround – multiple surround instruments at a time,
independent from room localisation
Extension of the soundfield of instruments and room – unique
structure of different sound layers
The Surround Microphone Comparison DVD (PAL only!) offers a broad choice
of surround recordings covering different music styles and instrumentations.
The usual language selection is used to select each miking system (or
a mix of all) for any recording example.
The
DVD provides each recording example both as wave files and as pro tools
session for problem-free import into any DAW system with uncompressed
sound quality.
